Vietnamese invests US$ 30.5 million on rubber plantation in Champassak

(KPL) The Lao government had granted a 30-year concession to the Ho Chi Minh Rubber Tree Joint Venture Company of Vietnam for the plantation of rubber trees and for building a rubber processing factory on 2,000 hectares of land in Khong district, Champassak province.
An agreement was signed in Vientiane Capital on 11 November between the representatives of the two parties. The Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, Mr. Thongmy Phomvisay, and the Head of the Cabinet of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Mr. Bounthong Bouahom were the signatories on the Lao side and Mr. Nguyen Trieo Tran and Le Van Guang, director and deputy director, respectively, signed for the Vietnamese company.
Governor of Champassak province, Mr. Sonesay Siphandone, Deputy-Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Dr. Ty Phommachak and Charge d’ Affaires of Vietnam to Laos, Mr. Luong Cok Huy witnessed the signing agreement.
The Ho Chi Minh Rubber Tree Joint Venture Company was established and registered in Vietnam and the investment of US$30.5 million in this rubber project in Laos comes from Vietnamese sources.
