MEETINGS OF PACE POLITICAL AND MONITORING COMMITTEES DUE SHORTLY
Baku, 14 November,(AzerTAj)Regular meetings of the PACE Political Affairs and Monitoring Committees will be held on the next week.
Meeting of the Organization`s Permanent Committee is expected in late November in Madrid.
Meeting of the Political Affairs Committee will focus on the Georgia-Russia relations, Chairman of the Milli Majlis International and Inter-Parliamentary Ties Standing Committee, head of the Azerbaijan parliament delegation to PACE Samad Seyidov said. The Monitoring Committee meeting will discuss the obligations Azerbaijan took before this Organization.
The co-rapporteurs to Azerbaijan Andres Herkel and Yevgeniya Zhivkova will join the discussions with their reports. According to Mr. Seyidov, the recent presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be
for the first time discussed at the meeting of the Permanent Committee in Madrid to consider special report on the elections.
Samad Seyidov said stability and development of democracy in Azerbaijan has raised country`s reputation and prestige at the Council of Europe and other international organizations.
`The delegation is, however, going to fight against double standards
in regard with Azerbaijan`, he emphasized.
Azerbaijan has, in general, implemented all the obligations it took before the
Organization, and there are some ones of less importance. Azerbaijan will protect
its national interests in any case, Mr. Seyidov added.
