Abu Dhabi Science Festival 2013 showcases science and technology content from across region

Abu Dhabi: The award-winning Abu Dhabi Science Festival (ADSF), organised by the Abu Dhabi Technology Committee (TDC), will be showcasing the latest and greatest offerings from the region's leading science and technology providers when it opens to the public on November 14th. It is rapidly garnering international recognition for its rich, engaging content and activities and has already made a name for itself as the leading science and technology festival in the region.
Complementing the array of rich local content on offer this year will be fascinating guest exhibits from Bahrain, Jordan and Egypt science institutions making their debut.
Neama Al Marshoudi, Manager of Content, Science and Technology Promotion from TDC explained, "ADSF's continued success year-on-year means we are constantly looking for fresh and engaging content that will add to the excitement of the festival. This year we broadened our approach and reached out to regional science and technology content providers, all of whom have exemplary credentials within the sector. We are lucky to have a wealth of excellent providers partnering with us and we are thrilled with having Bahrain's Science Centre, Egypt's Planetarium Science Centre and Jordan's Children's Museum joining us during this edition." Al Marshoudi continued, "In the true spirit of collaborating efforts across borders to showcase some of the best Arab science and technology content, this year's festival provides an ideal platform to support, encourage and inspire the UAE youth with the wondrous world of science and inspire them to realise their potential of becoming the innovators of tomorrow." From Bahrain's Science Centre comes the insightful offering, What's Inside?', a unique dissection workshop that offers a whole new world of investigation providing an inside look at fish and squid through dissection by a hands-on biologist. Not for the squeamish, this is a real-life opportunity to experience the science of anatomy close up and discover marine animals from the inside out.
From Egypt, and fresh from the Arabs Got Talent contest, comes Professor Zanzoun', bringing his totally absorbing Super Science show to the nation's capital. Professor Zanzoun presents a packed extravaganza combining hands-on experiments and presentations that put pizzazz into science. Visitors can discover the marvels of chemistry, physics and biology and laugh as they learn with this breath-taking "edutainment" experience.
Switching on the excitement is Jordan's Children's Museum's, It Lights Up!' interactive workshop. Mini-scientists can explore electricity: how it works, what a conductor is and how to light up a model camel caravan. And for those extreme occasions when you may be stranded on rocky shores, Mrs. Y will teach participants how to illuminate a lighthouse - without any wiring.
Al Marshoudi concluded, "At TDC we recognise that science, technology and innovation are key to creating a diversified knowledge-based economy and building a secure future for UAE youth. ADSF is just one of our many initiatives specifically dedicated to the education, engagement and inspiration of the nation's youth, encouraging them to pursue education and careers in science, technology and innovation." – Emirates News Agency, WAM
