Population in Yemen may double by 2050 to 109 million, study

SANA'A, Nov. 16 (Saba) - A study showed that the number of
population in Yemen may double from 2008-2025 and by 2050 this
number may reach 109 million.

It warned of high population rates in Yemen, saying high fertility
rates leading to the high growth rates may lead to bad effects on
the country's economic situation.

Population growth in Yemen is increasing and considered one of the
world's most high rates, with 80 newborns an hour, the study says.

All indicators show that Yemen suffers from a population crisis that
must be looked into and dealt with, but not ignored.

Yemen's population is 21 now million, and the country's rapidly
growing rate of population raises concerns about the ability of the
economy to absorb the high numbers of people.
