Dhow Festival Opens at Katara Beach

Doha, November 19 (QNA) - The third Traditional Dhow Festival 2013 is opening at the Katara Beach here Tuesday will showcase regional maritime culture. The festival organised in conjunction with Qatar Museums Authority will run from November 19 to 23. One of the feature events of the festival is the Fath El Kheir trip. This event revives Arab ancestral heritage of navigating and seafaring on Dhows. This trip will begin on November 22 from Katara Beach sailing to its first station in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It will then head to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Sultnate of Oman and then navigate to the United Arab Emirates. It will leave UAE shores to reach Doha on December 18 to participate in the Qatar National Day celebrations. The entire trip will cover an estimated distance of 856 nautical miles. (QNA)
