BRR HANDS ASSETS IN NIAS, ACEH TO TRANSPORTATION MINISTRY

Jakarta, Nove 18 (ANTARA) - The Nias and Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD) Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority (BRR) has handed over 13 transportation infrastructure assets and 28 buses to the Transportation Ministry.

The symbolic handover from Aceh-Nias BRR Chief Kuntoro Mangkusubroto to Transportation Minister Jusman Syafii Djamal took place at a ceremony in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The assets, consisting of six sea ports, six airports, a bus station, and 28 buses were worth a total of Rp292 billion.
Kuntoro said the assets would evenutally be passed on to related state companies to be operated for the improvement of the local people's economy and welfare, especially the people in Aceh and Nias.
The construction cost of the six sea ports was Rp69.9 billion. The ports would eventually be handed over to PT Pelindo-I, the state-owned sea port management company.
In the air transportation sector, six airports, namely Cut Nyak Dien airport in Meulaboh, Lasikin airport in Sinabang, Rembele Takengon airport in Central Aceh, Maimun Saleh airport in Sabang, Sultan Iskandar Muda airport in Banda Aceh, and Cut Ali airport in Tapak Tuan, Aceh Besar, were also handed to the transportation ministry.
Assets in the transportation sector consisted of a Damri bus station in Banda Aceh and 28 Damri buses of which 18 were non-air conditioned and 10 air conditioned , altogther valued at a total of Rp12.6 billion.
"The funds for all transportation assets delivered to the Transportation Ministry this time were from the state budget," Kuntoro said, adding that BRR had earlier handed two ships to the Nias district administration.
In addition, BRR had also handed Gunung Sitoli port and Binaka airport in Nias to the Transportation Ministry.
"The assets for Nias which were handed to the Transportation Ministry in April 2008 are being operated to serve the Nias people," Kuntoro said.
He added BRR would until the end of this year, hand over assets worth a total of Rp15 trillion to the government.
On the occasion, Transportation Minister Jusman Syafii Djamal asked all related state enterprises to operate the assets for the welfare of the local people.
