RI'S SOFTWARE COMPANY, TELKOM, MICROSOFT COOPERATE TO DEVELOP EDUCATION SECTOR

Jakarta, Nov 21 (ANTARA) - One of Indonesia's leading companies in education software, PT Pesona Edukasi, along with PT Microsoft Indonesia and PT Telkom, launched a joint cooperation under the motto "Indonesia Towards a World Centre of Excellence for Education Software" here Friday.

"The launching is related to a joint cooperation among the three parties to distribute PT Pesona Edukasi's education software for schools across the nation," PT Pesona Edukasi's Marketing Director Hary S Candra said.

He said the idea to establish the joint cooperation came from a determination to help improve and enhance education in Indonesia.

Furthermore, Hary said, the fact that the company's products are also exported to 23 countries had given PT Pesona Edukasi a motivation to expand the program covering more schools with lower prices.

"We hope that through the program, education in Indonesia can be further developed and we hope that this country can be the centre of excellence in education software," he said.
The software, he said, is a tool for learning adjusted to national curricula. It suits elementary, junior, high, and vocational schools.

"We have agreed to cooperate with Microsoft Indonesia and PT Telkom ( state owned telecommunications companmy) to expand the program through retail distribution by launching Microsoft Family EduPC and Telkom Speedy Edu," said the director.

In relation to Microsoft's contribution to the cooperation, vice president of PT Microsoft Indonesia, Ari Kunwidodo, explained that his company would launch PC equipped with Microsoft Encarta and Short Version of PesonaEdu (PT Pesona Edukasi's software).

"There are two PesonaEdu programs; Pesona Math and Pesona Science. In running the programs, we are also in partnership with Zyrex and Acer Indonesia," he said.

Moreover, Ari stated that the programs were part of corporate social responsibility (CSR) to people especially in the sector of education.

"Through the programs, we are providing interractive learning tools and instruments to students in Indonesia," Ari said.

In the cooperation, Telkom as the largest network provider in Indonesia was working with PT Pesona Edukasi in providing short version of PesonaEdu which could be downloaded at an affordable price every month.

"We provide retail services to those who want to download the program every month. The payment will be put in the Internet account of the user," Head of Digital Business of PT Telkom, Widi Nugroho, said.

Marketing its products for the first time in 2001, PT Pesona Edukasi has started to export its products to 23 countries such as Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam at the end of 2007. Until now, it had gained a profit of US$ 27,6 million.

The products have won several national and international awards such as the Best Education Software 2006 and 2007 from the National Education Ministry, friendly Kitemark Accreditation from Promethean of the United Kingdom, and Intel International Software Vendor Alliance.
