RI DELEGATION PROMOTING KAPETs AMONG CHINESE INVESTORS
Beijing, Nov 24 (ANTARA) - A large Indonesian government and businessmen's delegation is currently visiting China to promote Integrated Economic Development Zones (Kapets) across Indonesia as potential areas of investment to China's corporate world.
"Kapets consist of regions in Indonesia which have many potentials that can be developed by entrepreneurs and investors from China. The chances for cooperation in this respect are great considering the growth of economic relations between the two countries," the deputy chief of mission at the Indonesian enbassy in Beijing, Mohamad Oemar, said here Monday.
Oemar made the remarks when opening a seminar about the potentials and investment opportunities in Kapets attended by Chinese entrepreneurs and members of the Indonesiam delegation.
He said several sectors in Kapets, namely plantations, fisheries, mining, animal husbandry, and tourism were still wide open for Chinese investments.
The chances for cooperation in developing the economic potentials in Kapets were great since China needed raw materials and its economic policy which had changed from manufacture-based to high technology-based and prompted many Chinese companies to look for manufacturing bases outside their own country.
Indonesia, he said, not only had natural resources, but also political stability, domestic security, a conducive investment environment, pro-business policy, and promising economic growth, Therefore, it should be valued as a strong country and a strategic investment destination.
"This condition is also supported by the strengthening of China's currency, the Yuan. Investing in Indonesia would be cheap and profitable for Chinese businessmen if they decided to set up manufacturing bases in Indonesia," he said.
Ever since the signing of an Indonesia-China Strategic Cooperation Treaty in 2005, investment opportunities in Indonesia for Chinese businessmen had become promising in conjunction with the growth of relations between the two countries.
On the same occasion, Director of Spatial Planning at Indonesia's Public Works Ministry Wahyono Bintarto who led the Indonesian delegation to China, said the meeting was expected to strengthen the cooperation between Indonesia and China.
"The meeting should be made a momentum in attracting Chinese entrepreneurs to invest their capital in Indonesia and conduct a profitable cooperation to both Indonesia and China," he said.
