NCPO chief to give TV address on Fridays
BANGKOK, May 31 (TNA) - Thai Army Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha, in his capacity as chief of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), will give his weekly addresses on Fridays.
Royal Thai Army Deputy Spokeswoman Colonel Sirichan Nga-thong told journalists of the NCPO chief's plan, after his first address in a special programme broadcast nationwide last night in the wake of the May 22 military coup.
The deputy spokeswoman said General Prayuth is expected to speak on how the coup council would administer the country and solve people’s problems during the absence of an interim government.
Royal Thai Army Deputy Spokesman Colonel Winthai Suvaree, meanwhile, admitted that there are still several groups of people opposing the military coup, urging people not to join the rallies and stressing that the military has mapped out a plan to cope with Sunday’s rallies in Bangkok.
Another Royal Thai Army Deputy Spokesman Colonel Nattawat Chancharoen revealed that all deputy NCPO chiefs have visited their assigned ministries to monitor the works and they are scheduled to submit their reports to the NCPO chief next week, noting that some of the projects, namely forestry, tourism and water management to prevent flooding,
may have to be reviewed by the NCPO. (TNA)
