UAE President honours winners of Emirates award
Abu Dhabi, Dec 3, 2008 (WAM) - President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan honoured winners of the Emirates Appreciation Award for Science, Arts, and Literature.
List of the honoured included Dr Jamal Sanad Al Suwaidi, winner of the Emirates Award for Studies '&' research, Ali Abdullah Mohammed Abul Reesh, winner of the Emirates Literary Award, Rashad Mohammed Bu Khash, winner of the Emirates Science Award, Ahmed Zakaria Al Jasmi, winner of the Emirates Arts Award and Abdul Rahim Salim, winner of the Emirates Plastic Arts Award.
Sheikh Khalifa congratulated the winners and expressed the hope that more citizens will excel in the literary, intellectual and scientific fields.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development HE Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais who attended the award ceremony said that the honouring of these personalities by the HH President will be an incentive for them to continue their march of excellence in science, literature, arts and culture.
It will also inspire all the citizens of the country to work hard to present their best innovations and creativity in support of the march of the country into comprehensive progress, the minister added.
Owais said that the award set up by the consent from the HH President and the endorsement by the cabinet at a meeting chaired by Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is a reflection of the country's keenness to nurture the talents and innovative attitude among the citizens.
Receiving the award, Ali Abdullah Mohammed Abul Reesh said that the award is a pride for every creative talent in the country, and mirrors the keenness of the UAE leadership to support these talents.
Winner of the Emirates Science Award Rashad Mohammed Bu Khash said that the honouring by HH President gives him an added sense of responsibility to strive more in the cause of the development of the nation.
