HOUSE WANTS PERTAMINA REPRIMANDED FOR GASOLINE SHORTAGES
Jakarta, Dec 4 (ANTARA) - The House of Representatives (DPR)'s Commission VII has asked the Down-stream Oil and Gas Regulatory Board (BPH Migas) to reprimand state oil company PT Pertamina for the recent premium gasoline shortages.
The request was made during a hearing between House Commission VII deputy chairman Sutan Bhatoegana and BPH Migas chief Tubagus Haryono here on Wednesday.
On the occasion Bhatoegana said Pertamina should not turn a blind eye to the premium scarcities because it was detrimental to the people at large.
He added that Pertamina had the power to take stern action against the owners of gas stations who intentionally withheld premium compensation to the company or sold it to consumers.
"When the oil price was raised, gas station owners reaped double profit, but when the price was lowered they did not want to suffer loss," Sutan said.
Meanwhile, BPH Migas chief Tubagus said he would reprimand Pertamina in writing for the premium gasoline scarcities.
Tubagus said Pertamina did not tell him about a policy change in the cancellation of bearing the difference of Rp500 per liter, because the company should have asked for permission from the state minister for state enterprises.
He said Pertamina was only prepared to bear the difference of Rp80 per liter.
"We are surprised to find that the policy change was not discussed with BPH Migas. Therefore we are going to send reprimand to Pertamina," Tubagus said.
