Danish FM meets with Zarif

TEHRAN, Sep. 09 (MNA) – Martin Lidegaard, Danish foreign minister, who is in Iran has met with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif.
During a meeting with Denmark’s FM, Iran’s FM called the extremism and terrorism in the Middle East, especially Iraq and Syria, a serious threat to the region and the whole world and maintained, “no one is safe from the threat of extremism and terrorism, and ISIL has so far proven that it does not adhere to any principles.”
The two FMs discussed leading regional and international issues, particularly developments in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Zarif pointed to Iran and Denmark’s ties in the past and expressed hope that the ties be restored to their right place.
Iran’s FM asserted, “Iran and Denmark have great potential to expand ties and cooperate in many different areas.”
He went on saying that “despite the difference of opinion between Iran and the EU on some issues related to the human rights, the two sides can have useful discussions in regard to these issues.”
Martin Lidegaard, while expressing concern for the spread of terrorism in the Middle East, remained optimistic about increasing cooperation with Iran.
