Sixty Foreign Filmmakers To Attend Resistance Festival

Tehran, Sept 10, IRNA - A total of 60 foreign filmmakers will attend the 13th Resistance International Film Festival. Secretary of the festival, Hossein Khazaei, who was speaking in a ceremony to unveil the event’s poster on Tuesday, said that the festival marks the ‘Sacred Defense’, during the 1980-1988 Iraqi-imposed war, when Iranian soldiers fought against the executed Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein’s forces and defended the Islamic Republic against enemy aggression. “We should bear in mind that this festival is of high significance in the world. This means that most media take a serious look at the event,” Khazaei said. He also said the festival will be held on a large scale including in Iranian provinces such as Sistan-Baluchestan, Kurdestan and Ilam. The Islamic Revolution and Sacred Defense Cinematic Community will hold this year’s festival with special focus on ‘Resistance, Wisdom and Prosperity’. The event will be presented in the three sections, i.e. ‘International Competition’, ‘Imad Moqniyeh Award’ and the ‘Outlook of Iran’s Resistance Cinema in the World’. The opening ceremony will be held at Tehran’s Vahat Hall on September 21. The 13th International Resistance Film Festival will take place during Iran’s Sacred Defense Week, that is, September 22-29./end
