JAPANESE EMBASSY TO BAKU HOLDS RECEPTION ON NATIONAL HOLIDAY
Baku, 05 December,(AzerTAj)On December 4, Japanese embassy to Baku held a reception to mark national holiday of the country – 75th birthday of the Reigning Emperor Akihito. Ambassador Masamitsu Oki said constitutionally the Japanese Emperor is symbol of
unity of the nation and his birthday is celebrated as national holiday.
Speaking about Azerbaijan-Japan diplomatic relationship, established in 1992, the
Ambassador said the relations started to rapidly develop after President Ilham
Aliyev`s visit to his country in 2006.
He added the two countries have enough opportunities to boost relations not only in
political and economic fields but also in culture, sport and education.
Vice-speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament Valeh Alasgarov conveyed President Ilham
Aliyev`s congratulations to the Japanese Ambassador.
Mr. Alasgarov thanked the Japanese government for its support for realization of
several projects in Azerbaijan.
He said bilateral relations between the two countries will further strengthen and
expand.
Senior Azerbaijani officials, ambassadors of foreign countries to Baku and public
figures attended the reception.
The birthday of the Reigning Emperor has been a national holiday since 1868.
Originally known as Tencho-setsu, it was renamed Tenno tanjobi in 1948. It is
currently celebrated on December 23. Emperor Akihito was born on this day in 1933.
Prior to the death of Emperor Hirohito in 1989, this holiday was celebrated on April
29.
