National Assembly passes three new laws

(KPL) The 6th National Assembly Session closed yesterday after it had passed four amendments and three new laws and amended the expenditure plan for 2008-09.
The laws were on printing, quarantine and public investment and the other four were amendments to existing laws, such as contract, inheritance, electricity and mining.
However, the sessions over the 11-day period concentrated on several key issues: the classification of 49 Lao ethnic groups, an appraisal of the achievements of the Lao government in 2007-8, an evaluation of the recent flood and the effects of the global financial crisis on Laos.
NA members enthusiastically brainstormed when they were debating each of the seven laws and listened intently on the achievements of the Standing Committee of National Assembly.
The Cambodian Senator, President Chea Sim, and his delegation attended the sixth National Assembly Session on 28 November and he gave a speech at this meeting, referring to the bilateral cooperation and development of legislatures in the region.
Mr Thongteun Sayasene, Head of National Assembly Office and a spokesman of National Assembly, who spoke on behalf of the National Assembly, thanked the officials, officers, intellectuals and people of the various social stratas for contributing ideas and proposals to NA.
