Human organs in parcels stolen from Siriraj Medical Museum
BANGKOK, November 17 (TNA) - The Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, has confirmed that human organs, found in parcels last weekend and destined for the United States, came from the Siriraj Medical Museum.
Dr. Udom Kachintorn, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, told journalists on Monday that the five human parts were taken away from the second floor of the Adulyadej Wikrom Building. two of them had been earlier kept at the Anatomy Department and the three others at the Forensic Medicine Department.
Dr. Udom made the confirmation in response to the discovery of five human parts in formalin in the parcels in Bangkok's Bang Pong Pang area, under the jurisdiction of the Bang Pong Pang Police Station.
Dr. Udom stated that he will have a lawyer to file a complaint concerning the incident, as surveillance camera footage showed that a foreign man who sent the parcels had visited the Siriraj Medical Museum although the footage did not expose the theft.
Dr. Udom said he will also ask the police to find out whether the foreigner, an American suspect identified as Eugene Johnson, had conspired with any curator of the museum.
Johnson was questioned by the Bang Pong Pang police on Sunday, after they were alerted by DHL international package delivery service about the parcels.
The police then found that the first parcel contained a baby's head and baby feet, while the second one contained four tattooed pieces of body skin and the last one contained internal organs which were contained in transparent glass tubes.
All the three parcels were addressed to persons in Las Vegas of the US Nevada State, including one addressed to Johnson himself, who stays in Bangkok's Rama 1 area. (TNA)
