Thai court approves arrest warrants against American suspects for stealing body parts

BANGKOK, November 18 (TNA) - A Thai court has approved arrest warrants against two American tourists suspected of stealing infant body parts from Siriraj Hospital's Medical Museum in Bangkok, while local police have sought the Interpol's cooperation to help hunt for the suspects. Deputy National Police Chief Police General Ruangsak Jarit-ake told journalists on Tuesday that the Bangkok South Criminal Court has approved the arrest warrants against the two American tourists, as requested by the local police. Police General Ruangsak said the two American suspects, identified as Ryan Edward McPherson and Daniel Jamon Tanner, were charged with conspiring to steal public possessions from a government agency and violating the Customs Act by declaring false content of parcels. According to the deputy national police chief, evidence showed that the two American men worked together to have five infant body parts stolen from the Siriraj Medical Museum. The deputy national police chief stated that the Royal Thai Police's foreign affairs department has also coordinated with the Interpol to exchange information and to track down the two American suspects, who have reportedly fleed to neighbouring Cambodia. Earlier, another American man, identified as Eugene Johnson, was questioned by police at the Bang Pong Pang Police Station in the Thai capital, after the police were alerted by DHL international package delivery service last weekend about three suspicious parcels destined for the United States. The police then found that the first parcel contained a baby's head and baby feet, while the second one contained four tattooed pieces of body skin and the last one contained internal organs which were contained in transparent glass tubes. All the three parcels, in which the five infant parts were kept in formalin, were addressed to persons in Las Vegas of the US Nevada State, including one addressed to Johnson himself, who stays in Bangkok's Rama 1 area.
