Free taxi-rides for elderly, PWDs in Bangkok from Jan-Sept 2015

BANGKOK, December 23 (TNA) - The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has joined forces with a private firm to launch a project on free-taxi rides for the elderly and persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the Thai capital from January 1-September 30, 2015. Bangkok Governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra told journalists on Tuesday that the project, launched by the City Hall and Krungthep Thanakom Company Limited, will be available daily from 6am-10pm during the nine-month period. According to the Bagnkok governor, 30 wheelchair-accessible cabs have joined the initiative and all the authorised drivers have no criminal records and have been trained on how to take care of the elderly and PWDs on wheelchairs.
