Hefty discount goods offered to Thais as New Year gift
BANGKOK, December 24 (TNA) - The Thai government and the private sector join forces to offer discount products, up to 70 per cent, to people nationwide.
Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha launched the discount product campaign at Bangkok's Government House on Wednesday.
Thanks to cooperation between the Ministry of Commerce and private retailers, wholesalers, department stores and convenience stores nationwide, the discount products are available at about 12,800 stores during the ongoing seven-day period, from December 24-30, 2014.
The prime minister thanked the private sector for their participation in the campaign, aimed at pleasing and returning happiness to the Thai people.
The prime minister announced that it is a New Year gift from his government, along with short and long-term projects to be later introduced for the public interest.
Under the campaigning project, consumer products are now available at 10-70 per cent cheaper, such as electrical appliances are offered up to 70 per cent discounts and garments by 30-60 per cent.
The prime minister also promised that his government is promoting connectivity and integration to develop Thailand to become a regional center.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) reported that the Thai Industries Sentiment Index (TISI) rose to 89.7 in November 2014, up from 87.5 a month earlier, thanks to sale promotions for the New Year Festival.
The TISI for the next three months, surveyed in November 2014, rose to 106.1, from 105.6 a month earlier, due to better purchase orders, sales, production quantity and operational results. (TNA)
