FINLAND KEEN ON ENERGY COOPERATION WITH AZERBAIJAN

Baku, 13 December,(AzerTAj)Finland is interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in the energy sector, Finland`s ambassador in Azerbaijan Petri Salo told journalists.

Without possessing hydrocarbon reserves Finland purchases oil products in the
international markets.
“Presentably, there are some problems in the energy cooperation with Azerbaijan. Our
countries are geographically far away from each other, having no direct links.
Azerbaijani oil is expected to run via the Odessa-Brody-Gdansk to the Baltic Sea,”
said ambassador.
According to Salo, Finland backs Azerbaijan and other Caspian nations in
transporting energy resources from the Caspian to the European Union countries.
Diplomat noted some Finnish businessmen intend to cooperation with Azerbaijan in the
non-energy sector as well, but lack of direct flights between Baku and Helsinki make
things difficult.
