Japan welcomes Thai PM's visit Feb 9
BANGKOK, February 2 (TNA) - Japan is ready to welcome Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha's visit to Tokyo on February 9 to discuss an electric track project linking Thailand with neighboring Myanmar and Cambodia.
The welcoming remarks were made by visiting executives of the Japan Business Federation, also known as Keidanren, during their meeting with Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan at Bangkok's Government House on Monday.
At the meeting, aimed mainly to discuss economic cooperation between Bangkok and Tokyo, General Prawit informed Eizo Kobayashi and Toshiyuki Shiga, Chairman and Co-chairman of Keidanren's Japan-Thailand Trade and Economic Committee, that Thailand's political stability has been restored and an ongoing visit to Bangkok by some 60 leading Japanese business operators to attend the 23rd Japan-Thailand Trade and Economic Committee Meeting, after such the meeting had been suspended for three years, shows Japanese investors' confidence in Thailand.
Both sides also emphasized comprehensive bilateral cooperation, covering electric tracks development, trade in farm products and investment in special border economic development zones in Thailand.
The visiting Japanese representatives also said that Japan is conducting a feasibility study on Japan's participation in the investment-friendly electric train routes, expressing their hope that the Thai premier's upcoming trip to Tokyo should be fruitful (TNA)
