Indian aircraft violate Pakistani airspace over Kashmir, Lahore

ISLAMABAD, Dec. 14 Kyodo - Two Indian fighter aircraft violated Pakistan's airspace in the Kashmir and
Lahore sectors Saturday, but they were forced to return by Pakistani aircraft,
a spokesman of Pakistan Air Force said Sunday.
The spokesman told reporters that in both incidents, two aircraft intruded
about 4 kilometers into Pakistani airspace.
Pakistani aircraft, already on alert, challenged the planes and forced them to
return to Indian airspace.
A report by GEO TV said the Pakistan chief of the Air Staff personally
informed Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani around midnight of the violations.
Federal Information Minister Sherry Rehman said the Indian Air Force has
informed Pakistan the violations were inadvertent.
''We are watching the situation,'' she added.
Tensions between India and Pakistan have increased since the recent terror
attacks on Mumbai that turned out to be linked to an outlawed Pakistan-based
militant group.
