Azerbaijan State Philharmonic on 14 December hosted final

Baku, 15 December,(AzerTAj)Azerbaijan State Philharmonic on 14 December hosted final concert to wrap up the Second Mstislav Rostropovich International Festival, supported by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

The concert featured works by Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Mendelson,
performed by Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra under direction of Maxim Vengerov,
known as one of the world’s most exciting violinists, taught by Mstislav
Rostropovich. Australian violinist Ray Chen, who was invited to play solo, has won
hearts of Baku music lovers.
During the week Baku was enthralled with Mstislav Rostropovich Festival. This time
both Baku and foreign music teams, including Uzeir Hajibeyli Azerbaijan State
Symphonic Orchestra, “Moscow Soloists” group, the Symphonic Orchestra Giuseppe
Verdi of Milano, and young performers representing Galina Vishnevskaya’s Center of
Opera Singing teamed up for rare festival event.
“Baku is a momentous city for me and all pupils of Rostropovich. Maestro loved this
amazing city and used to come here… Since Rostropovich was a man of great sense of
humor, I would like to wrap up this concert with cheerful and optimistic “Hungarian
Dance” by Brahms”, Maxim Vengerov said.
