BOOKS ON PALESTINIAN HARDSHIP AT NATIONAL LIBRARY

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 17 (Bernama) -- A series of books written by Lebanese
author Dr Najla Nusayr Bashour, which will unfold the miseries arising from the
Israel-Palestine conflict from the children's honest perspective, will be
available at the Malaysian National Library, here from Tuesday.

The series come in six titles namely Majed's Chest, Whispers In Jurusalem,
Al-Fawakheer Color, Photo Album, Celebrating Palm Sunday and Maryam and Soha,
were published by the Malaysian Social Research Institute (MSRI).

Dr Najla said the books, first launched two years ago in Palestine, were
not well distributed in the country due to political constraints.

Many schools, she said, were afraid to buy and distribute them to their
students out of fear.

"I am trying to show the Palestinian problems through the eyes of children,
through their different types of experiences and traumas that they went
through," she said.

National Library Director-General Raslin Abu Bakar said the books would
help readers to enrich their knowledge and adopt a more realistic and impartial
view in the improvement of the quality of life among mankind.

MSRI chairman Fuad Hassan meanwhile said the institute was looking for a
distributor for the books.

Currently, the public could purchase the books through MSRI and online at
the institute website www.msri.gov.my, he said.
