Russia gets ready to welcome Vietnam’s president at Victory Day celebrations in Moscow - Medvedev

HANOI, April 6. /TASS/. Russia will be happy to welcome Vietnam’s President Truong Tan Sang in Moscow at the 70th anniversary celebrations of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Monday after talks with his counterpart Nguyen Tan Dung.
Medvedev started his official visit to Vietnam on Sunday. After talks with Vietnam’s prime minister and negotiations in an expanded format, a number of documents will be signed.
"We are holding our negotiations ahead of historic dates - this year Vietnam is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the South’s liberation and the 70th anniversary of independence," Medvedev said.
"In this country, we will mark the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Of course, we will celebrate these events in a special way," Medvedev added.
"We will be happy to welcome Vietnam’s president during the celebratory events on May 9," the Russian prime minister stressed.
Medvedev said on April 7 he is planning to visit a military and historical complex in Ho Chi Minh, one of the symbols of the Vietnamese people’s firmness in their fight against colonialists and aggressors.
The Russian prime minister is later due to visit Thailand.
