Thai businesses can occupy niches on Russian market that are empty due to sanctions - Prime Minister Medvedev

BANGKOK, April 8. /TASS/. Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has urged Thai business to occupy niches on the Russian market which became empty due to Western sanctions.
At a meeting with local businessmen in Bangkok he said that "due to well-known reasons there are empty niches on our market, first of all on the market of food and agricultural products".
"Those who manage to fill them up we’ll get extra profit", Medvedev said.
He also called for the use of national currency in economic relations between Russia and Thailand.
"An additional incentive for bilateral relations can be the transition to payments in national currency, in rubles and in Baht," Medvedev said, adding that he has discussed the matter with his Thai counterpart Chiang Prayutom Ochoy.
Medvedev also said that Moscow is interested in diversification of trade with Bangkok, expansion of exports of hi-tech products and other international cooperation.
"We are open to establishing new relations with Thailand and other states of Asian-Pacific region", the Russian Prime Minister said.
