Officials inspect shopping mall structure after bombing

SURAT THANI, April 12 (TNA) - Government officials early Sunday inspected the structure of a shopping mall on the southern resort of Samui island after it was hit by a bombing explosion two days ago. Accompanied by experts, Samui mayor Ramnate Jaikwang inspected the structure of Central Festival shopping mall before today's reopening. The underground car park of the mall on the popular resort of Koh Samui in Surat Thani province was hit by the bomb explosion on Friday. Meanwhile, police said investigation has achieved considerable progress after they found that bombers brought their car aboard a ferry and later parked it at the parking lot of the shopping mall on Friday evening. A suspect has been detained for questioning. Despite the bombing incident, tourists continued to visit Koh Samui while many of them went there for a reunion with their relatives during the Songkran festival or Thailand’s traditional New Year. Extra ferry boats have been added since this morning to cater the visitors at the two piers of the island. (TNA)
