Potassium factory construction
kicks off

(KPL) The construction of a potassium factory, a joint venture between Lao and Chinese investors, was officially commenced last Friday.
Located at Thongmang village, Saythany district, Vientiane province, the factory is said to have an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons.
Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines, Mr. Somboune Rasasombath, said the investment was a model and symbol of cooperation in mining field between Laos and China.
Uniquely, the investor has already paid the government US$ 900,000 for its royalty for the next five years.
Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Somsavat Lengsavad, Ambassador of China to Laos, Pan Guangxue, and President of Yun Tian Hua Group attended the opening ceremony.
According to a survey conducted by engineers of the company, Thongmang village has large volume of potassium, as it could ensure an annual production of 1 million tons for at least 30 years.
