Agriculture and Forestry fair opens at Lao ITECC

(KPL) The Agriculture and Forestry Fair 2008 opened yesterday at the Lao International Trade Exhibition and Convention Centre (Lao ITECC), Vientiane with the aim to promote market-oriented production.
The fair will display till 28 December, which drew public and private sectors: Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Department of Goods Production Promotion, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, agricultural sectors from Vientiane Capital, Agriculture Processing Association, Furniture Association and International organizations.The opening ceremony, Mr. Somsavat Lengsavad, Standing Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Sitaheng Rasphol, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Ministers, Deputy Ministers, representatives from embassies to Laos and International organizations.
“The fair is to perform the achievements of public and private sectors which engaged in agriculture development, the implementation of five years plan for agriculture and forestry development of the Government. The foodstuff production and market-oriented production, fixed vocational allocation, poverty reduction and build national economic basic,” said Minister Sitaheng. The fair also encouraged agricultural production groups for the market sale, local farmers, associations and private companies involving in the investment of agriculture and forestry production. It also is a platform for farmers nationwide to exchange lessons on the market-oriented production.
