More Thai business operators urged to do e-commerce

BANGKOK, August 10 (TNA) - As Thailand's e-commerce has grown by about 20 per cent yearly with about 500,000 players so far over the past few years, Bangkok-based Kasikorn Bank (KBank) has urges more business operators to enter the online trade. KBank Executive Vice President Pakorn Partanapat stressed on Monday that Thailand's e-commerce has expanded by at least 20 per cent annually over the past three years and the about 500,000 existing e-commerce operators have run their online businesses through many channels, including social media, websites and online market places with as many as 14.87 million customers. Pakorn estimated that the value of Thailand's e-commerce this year should reach 220 billion baht, attributing the online business growth to advance technologies, Internet penetration, people's increasing use of smart phones and advance online payment systems. Meanwhile, KBank and its local and international allies are jointly organizing a seminar on e-commerce on various platforms, in which participating speakers represent successful online operators, including alibaba.com, Rakuten, talad.com, Grab Taxi and Thai Ao Chi Fruits, as well as service providers like Ready Planet, Ship Yours, United Thai Logistic, Facebook and Google. The successful online business operators are sharing their successful exploration of business opportunities and the expansion of e-Commerce markets. (TNA)
