Statue of Thai King to honourably stand in Hua Hin
PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, THAILAND, August 20 (TNA) - After receiving a royal consent, the construction of a statue of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej has been started and it is expected to be completed and honourably situated at a dignified reservoir in seaside Hua Hin area of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province in the Upper Thai South, where the Klai Kangwon Palace is also situated, by September 2016.
The construction of the three-million-baht royal statue is expected to be completed by next month, while the construction of a 20-million-baht magnific pavilion in the middle of the Khao Tao Reservoir, in which the statue stands, is expected to be completed by September next year.
Built with silicon bronze, the size of the royal statue is approximately 1.5 times larger than the real royal size and it shows His Majesty the King standing while his hands carrying a camera with maps under his left arm, a working gesture of the beloved Thai monarch.
Accompanied by several senior officials, Prachuap Khiri Khan Governor Veera Sriwattanatrakul told a press conference on Thursday that the construction of the royal statue of His Majesty the King to stand in the middle of the reservoir is part of grand celebrations nationwide of His Majesty the King’s 90th birthday anniversary, which falls on December 5, 2017.
Veera said the statue of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej will be placed near the seven giant statues of Thailand’s former Kings at a new army-built Ratchaphakdi Park in Hua Hin.
According to the governor, it is believed that the two important places will become two new tourist attractions in Hua Hin and earn the province more tourism-related revenues in the future. (TNA)
