Thailand to draft master plan against corruption

BANGKOK, August 21 (TNA) - A comprehensive master plan against corruption will be tailored and implemented in Thailand, as part of the Kingdom's concrete anti-corruption moves. Pramon Suteewong, President of the Anti-Corruption Organisation of Thailand (ACT), told journalists on Thursday that his organisation plans to push for the draft and the implementation of the modeled master plan, covering clear strategies and action plans against corruption in all dimensions. Pramon said the master plan will also require the promulgation of relevant laws, which are considered important tools and assurance of the enforcement of rules and regulations against corruption in the Thai society in the future. Pramon also suggested that the restructuring of the bureaucratic system and administrative work, public policies and the Thai political system to be more constructive are necessary in order to be a turning point for national reform toward strong and sustainable development in the country. Besides, the public sector needs to create awareness on mass participation in anti-corruption cooperation among all sectors in the Thai society. Meanwhile, Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha will preside over an event, marking the National Anti-Corruption Day on September 6, set to be held at Central World shopping complex in Bangkok, in which the the so-called "Museum of Corruption" will be launched for the first time in Thailand and even in the world, exhibiting important corruption cases in the country. According to the ACT president, the event is also aimed to promote awareness against corruption among the public. (TNA)
