Bids for 4 mass transit rail lines planned to be held in 2016

BANGKOK, August 22 (TNA) - The state-run Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) hoped that the biddings for four lines of mass transit rail systems covering Bangkok and neighbouring areas, designed to ease traffic congestion, could be organised in 2016. MRTA governor Peerayuth Singpattanakul said bids for the four new line of the electric train lines are expected to be held next year. The four rail routes are Orange Line from Thailand Cultural Centre to Min Buri, Pink Line from Kae Rai in suburban Nonthaburi province, passing through Pak Kret to Min Buri, Yellow Line from Lat Prao, passing through Bang Kapi to Sam Rong in Samut Prakan province, and south Purple Loute from Tao Poon to Rat Burana. Mr Peerayuth said an approval is being sought from the Transport Ministry so that all the four rail line systems could be forwarded to the cabinet. He said he was optimistic that they could operate on time because the government wants the spending in the infrastructure projects would stimulate the national economy. (TNA)
