Community goods welcomed at Malaysia-Thailand relations fair
NARATHIWAT, THAILAND, August 27 (TNA) - Community goods of Thailand's Far South under the government-supported One Tambon, One Product (OTOP) Program have been warmly welcomed in neighbouring Malaysia at a Malaysia-Thailand relations fair, earning Thai producers over 3 million baht within five days.
Pranee Rattanaprayoon, Development Chief of Narathiwat Province in the Thai Deep South, told journalists of the information on Thursday, acknowledging that OTOP items from the southernmost Thai region, displayed at more than 70 booths at the Malaysia-Thailand relations fair, have drawn a larger number of Malaysian buyers than earlier expected.
Pranee reported that the Thai OTOP items, including food, clothes and decorative materials, have been sold well at the Malaysia-Thailand relations fair, eariler set to be held from August 20-29 in Malaysia’s Terengganu State, prompting Malaysian authorities to have extended the event until August 31, which is Malaysia's National Day, as requested by participating business operators.
Besides, the event helps further promote trade, investment and business matching between Malaysian and Thai business operators, while also stimulating cross-border tourism-related businesses and earning local Thai producers more revenues in their OTOP sales. (TNA)
