Thai authority assures one-day registration of business firms

BANGKOK, September 9 (TNA) - Thailand's Department of Business Development, under the Ministry of Commerce, assures that new business firms can, from now on, be registered within one day. The department's director-general, Pongpun Gearaviriyapun, made the assurance on Wednesday, after opening the E-Commerce Day 2015 at the ministry on the outskirts of Bangkok, saying that the registration of business firms can also be done online within 2017. Pongpun explained that her department has shortened the registration time for new business firms from three days to one day to help stimulate the national economy. Last year, the senior official acknowledged, the value of online trade in Thailand amounted to over 768.01 billion baht, a surge by 50 per cent from 2013, assessing that the figure should exceed one trillion baht within two years. Meanwhile, the E-Commerce Day 2015 fair, organized by the department, is aimed to educate local business operators on e-commerce and to encourage them to use the online trade to expand their businesses locally and internationally to cut their costs amid greater competition, especially after the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) is formed by the end of this year. At the fair, the "DBD Verified" certification for local reliable e-commerce operators are also introduced, with the silver level to be issued to individual business operators and the gold and platinum levels to be issued to corporates.
