More Than 3.2 Billion Baht Allocated to the Poor
BANGKOK, Sept 26 (TNA) - Thailand’s Interior Ministry has allocated more than 3.2 billion baht to agriculturists and low-income earners to implement 3,827 projects, said Wiboon Sa-nguanpong, permanent secretary for Interior.
Mr. Wiboon said that the money allocated was part of 6.541 billion baht the government has set aside to assist agriculturists and low-income earners in rural areas nationwide, aimed at stimulating the country’s economy. The 6.541 billion baht also includes a Village Funds programme in which five million baht will be given per village.
He said that his ministry had already informed provincial authorities wishing to implement urgent projects to work out details of each project so that budget assistance could be allocated within the specified period.
Provincial governors are required to report to the Budget Bureau on a monthly basis on the budget spent until the project is complete, said Mr. Wiboon. (TNA)
