PM urges people to conserve Thai traditional arts
BANGKOK, November 3 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has urged people to help conserve the Thai traditional arts, including "Khon".
The prime minister said on Tuesday that “Khon" is one of Thailand’s prides and it should be conserved and revived in order to attract interests of both Thais and foreigners.
The prime minister opined that the dresses and acting of "Khon" performers are very elegant, but they need to give more details of the stories and acting of each character so that the audience would enjoy the shows more.
The prime minister also invited Thai people to view a Khon annual performance, themed "The Battle of Intorachit: Phrommat Brahmastra Arrow", as the performance is organised to show public loyalty to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit.
The prime minister made the invitation during a courtesy call on him paid by Khon performers at Bangkok's Government House prior to the Cabinet's weekly meeting.
The Khon performance will be organised at the Thailand Cultural Center on Bangkok’s Ratchadapisek Road from November 7-December 6, 2015.
This episode in the epic Ramakien, the Thai version of Ramayana, will reportedly keep the audience in awe with the exciting performances and dresses of the performers and it will, thus, worthwhile to view. (TNA)
