14th Latin American Film Festival Comes To Town

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 (Bernama) -- The embassies of Latin American and Carribean Countries in Malaysia want to expand their 'wings' to bring their movies throughout this country.
According to the Ambassador of Mexico to Malaysia, Carlos Felix Corona (second from left), they want to share their various types of movies and also culture as well as to keep the Malaysian and Latin American partnership grow stronger.
"Eventually we would like to expand it to the whole of Malaysia, but that will need lots of work and sponsorship. We are also hoping for more movies to come in here (Malaysia). It is not just for economic purposes but also for our partnership," he told a media conference to introduce the 14th Latin American Film Festival here Tuesday.
Regarding the festival, he said there would be a new format this year, as the movies will be aired in an open space compared to last year.
The festival is set to run from Nov 11 to 19, at the Mini Auditorium, Malaysia Tourism Centre (MATIC), Jalan Ampang, here.
"Due to very good feedback from last year, we have selected a new venue for our event this year, which is much bigger than last year. We want Malaysian people to know our movies and our various type of movies and also culture from each Latin American country," he said.
Malaysian film directors are welcomed to share their knowledge and to exchange their espertise or ideas in the cinematography industry.
The festival will be featuring 11 contemporary films (including from Spain), a variety of genres such as comedies, dramas, historical, documentary to be aired for almost two weeks for the audience. All films will
be screened with English subtitles.
The Latin America Film Festival is an annual event organised by the Embassies of Latin American and Carribean countries in Malaysia; namely Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay, Chile and Venezuela.
