Thailand prepares for Loy Kratong Festival
BANGKOK, Nov 19 (TNA) -- Many provinces across Thailand are improving their scenery and landscape ahead of the coming Loy Kratong or Floating Lantern Festival, which is set to fall on November 25 this year, especially the northern Sukhothai province.
Authorities concerned with organising the Loy Kratong and Candles Lighting Festival 2015 in Sukhothai province, inspected the venue within the Sokhothai Historical Park, which has already been decorated beautifully in the retro style, dating back around 700 years ago, when the city was the Thai capital then.
At the same time, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) office in the province has forecast that more than 250,000 visitors would be attend the festival, which is scheduled to be held between November 21-25, and generating an income of over 400 million baht.
Meanwhile, Uttaradit province would be hold a Loy Kratong event at the heart of the city's activity grounds located near the Nan River bank, stressing the prohibitions of all sales of alcohol to ensure a fun festivity free of alcohol.
Special patrol units from the Nong Khai police station, on the other hand, have been inspected the local Chaiporn market and the intersection of Wat Pho Chai temple to ensure that vendors were not selling fireworks and firecrackers, warning them that these items are considered dangerous and those without legal permission could not sell them.
Back in Bangkok, the Royal Thai Police have asked for cooperation from the public planning to join in with the festivity to refrain from using fireworks and crackers, or any dangerous items or items that could disturb other people. The police also warned commuters and motorcyclists to be extra careful while using the road and to not drink and drive. (TNA)
