Wee Wern Through, Mohd Nafiizwan Booted Out Of Hong Kong Open

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 2 (Bernama) -- National squash player Low Wee Wern kicked off her first round campaign on a winning note in the Hong Kong Squash Championships at the Hong Kong Football Club, Tuesday. Wee Wern, the 9th seed who defeated France's Coline Aumard 11-7, 4-11, 9-11, 11-5, 14-12 in five thrilling sets will however, face a tough task against world number one Raneem El Welily of Egypt in the second round on Thursday. Malaysian squash queen and world number two Nicol David who is gunning for her 10th Hong Kong Open title will face Liu Tsz Ling of Hong Kong in the opening round Wednesday while Delia Arnold takes on Nicolette Fernandes of Guyana in another first round match. Nicol has won the tournament nine consecutive times since 2006. It was however, the end of the road for the only Malaysian player in the men's category, Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan, who was knocked out 14-12, 6-11 6-11, 4-11 by Daryl Selby of England in the first round. -- BERNAMA
