Russia’s top lawmaker to visit Japan in June to develop interparliamentary ties
MOSCOW, January 13. /TASS/. Russia’s State Duma Speaker Sergey Naryshkin said on Wednesday he plans a new visit to Japan in June to develop interparliamentary relations and participate in a ceremony of opening the Russian culture festival.
"In general, we are satisfied by our interparliamentary ties. I plan to further encourage the development of our contacts - the contacts between parliamentarians of the two countries," Naryshkin said at the meeting with Japan’s ex-foreign minister Masahiko Komura, who is vice-president of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the chairman of the Japan-Russia Parliamentary Friendship Association.
"In June I plan to visit Japan to continue meetings with the leadership of the House of Representatives of the Japanese parliament and participate in the opening of another festival of the Russian culture in Japan," Naryshkin said.
Naryshkin said he was glad to hear the news that Komura will co-chair the organizing committee of the Russian culture festival in Japan. The State Duma speaker chairs the organizing committee of the Russian culture festival in Japan from the Russian side.
Last time, Naryshkin visited Japan in May 2015. During the visit, Naryshkin met with the chairs of the houses of the Japanese parliament, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and attended an opening ceremony for the 10th Russian culture festival.
