INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE TO HOLD MONITORING ON NATIONWIDE REFERENDUM
Baku, January 7, (AzerTAc). Baku branch of the International Institute for
monitoring of development of democracy and parliamentarism and citizens` voting
rights in the member states of the CIS Parliamentary Assembly will regularly conduct
monitoring in Azerbaijan with respect to the 18 March nationwide referendum.
Director of the Branch Elman Imamaliyev said monitoring will be started shortly in
Baku, Ganja, Lankaran and Guba. Experts of the CIS Parliamentary Assembly will also
be engaged in the monitoring.
According to Imamaliyev, the main goal is to verify the voters` list on the eve of
referendum and learn about stance of media and international organizations.
The branch is going to organize seminars for local observers. The seminars will be
conducted by experts of the Institute and Parliamentary Assembly.
Imamaliyev pointed out the branch employees would also conduct opinion polls.
Monitoring results will be released after they are analyzed by experts of the
institute and assembly.
