INDONESIAN MEN`S DOUBLES LOSE IN FIRST ROUND OF TOURNAMENT IN M`SIA
Jakarta, Jan 7 (ANTARA) - Three of four Indonesian men's doubles taking part in the Malaysia Badminton Open had been eliminated in first round of the tournament.
Bona Septano and Muhammad Ahsan were trounched in the first round by fellow countrymen Candra Wijaya and Luluk Hadiyanto 17-21, 18-21.
In the match at the Putra Stadium in Bukil Jalil, Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, it took Candra and Luluk only 37 minutes to beat the 19th seeded world runner-up of the Japan Super Series in 2008.
"Perhaps I should have finished the match earlier," Candra said.
Chandra who became champion in the 2000 Sydney Olympic together with Tony said that he had studied the playing style of his rivals, so that they did not have problems in adjustments.
Another Indonesian mens doubles who had to leave the USD200,000 prize tournament were Fernando Kurniawan and Lingga Lie.
Although playing in a rubber set, the Indonesian doubles lost to host mens doubles Hoon Thien How and Lim Khim Wah 17-21,21-12 and 15-21.
A similar fate also faced another Indonesian young mens doubles Rendra Wijaya and Joko Riyadi, who had been beaten by their Korea's Ko Sung Hyun and Kwon Yi Goo 12-21, 21-18 and 15-21 in 39 minutes.
