The Tiger Woods Dubai Plant Nursery begins to support horticultural requirements of Al Ruwaya Golf Course
Dubai, Jan 11, 2009 (WAM) - The Tiger Woods Dubai, a member of Tatweer Dubai, today announced its plant nursery, which aims to support the horticultural requirements of the 55 million sq. ft. golf community development, now boasts over 60 acres of grass - the equivalent of nine holes - and houses nearly 4,500 trees in addition to a wide variety of shrubs.
The nursery that has begun to cater to the requirements of Al Ruwaya Golf Course also features a reverse osmosis (RO) plant that purifies 5,000m3/day of treated sewage effluent (TSE) water to specified standards.
Abdulla Al Gurg, Project Director, The Tiger Woods Dubai, said: "The successful progress of work registered so far at The Tiger Woods Dubai has revitalised our corporate spirit, enabling us to target even higher benchmarks. We will continue to adopt the latest technologies in all facets of our project, including advanced water management techniques".
"We are keen to uphold the exclusivity of the destination that is set to become one of the most sought after golf developments in the world." Sod harvesting is another process that is being implemented at The Tiger Woods Dubai to ensure good quality turf. Al Ruwaya Golf Course, first in the world to be designed by Tiger Woods Design, will be the only course in the Middle East to utilise this method of grassing on the entire golf course. As part of the process, grass from the nursery is cut in a roll and laid in one-meter wide strips on the shaped hole.
In addition to other key progress areas, Tatweer has entered into several strategic agreements to ensure The Tiger Woods Dubai remains a destination for the elite. The widely acclaimed Lebanese designer Elie Saab has been contracted to craft the interiors of a 360,000 square feet boutique hotel at The Tiger Woods Dubai, while the renowned three-star Michelin chef Guy Savoy has been signed up for a signature restaurant, his first in the Middle East, at the boutique hotel.
Located at Dubailand, the world's most ambitious leisure, tourism and entertainment destinations, The Tiger Woods Dubai is fast taking shape as an exclusive golf community encompassing a professionally-staffed golf academy; a 139,000 sq. ft. clubhouse with premium amenities; a high-end destination spa; 22 palaces; 75 mansions, and 100 luxury villas and community service facilities.
The Tiger Woods Dubai, a member of Tatweer, is a private residential community and resort that will include the world's first Tiger Woods Design golf course - Al Ruwaya. Embodying Tiger Woods' vision of creating a spectacular, challenging golf course, Al Ruwaya, will be a 7,800 yard, par 72, 18 hole championship course with dramatic elevation changes, lush landscaping, stunning water features and an overall design that will challenge and entertain golfers of all playing abilities. Luxurious residential and hospitality components will include 197 residences, a boutique hotel, a well-being spa, a fine dining restaurant, a professionally staffed golf academy, and the Al Ruwaya clubhouse.
A truly exclusive address, this private golfing community is scheduled for completion in late 2009. It will occupy an area of 55 million sq ft in Dubailand off Al Hibab Road; a 30 minute drive from Dubai's city centre and the Dubai International Airport.
