ULAMA ASSOCIATION SUPPORTS MOTION ON ISRAELI ATROCITIES

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 12 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Ulama Association (PUM)
supports the government motion condemning Israeli atrocities on Palestinians in
di Gaza at a special parliament session Monday.

Its general secretary Dr Roslan Mohd Nor said the strong support from the
government and opposition parties in condemning the Zionist regime was indeed a
bold move.

"The undivided support from members of parliament shows that Malaysians are
united in condemning the inhuman acts," he said in a statement here Monday.

Dr Roslan said PUM regretted that Israel continued to rain Gaza with
chemical bombs, proof that Israel wanted to wipe out Palestinians from their own
homeland.

He said PUM was counting on Muslim leaders in government and the oppposition
to lash out at the Zionist regime.

"Who will fight for the future of Muslims or if not us?

PUM urged Muslims worldwide to strengthen their and faith be united in
upholding justice in their struggle at international events.

It urged the American people to pressure their government and leaders who
were used as tools by the Jewish lobby and Christian extremists to stop the
terrorism and to defend the rights and lives of innocent people.

"Muslims, Christians and those from other faiths must cooperate in checking
terrorism, occupation and other forms of evil by spreading peace, justice and
brotherhood," he said.

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi presented a motion to Lower House of
Parliament that Malaysia urge the United Nations (UN) to establish an
international war crimes tribunal for Palestine to investigate and charge
Israeli war criminals involved in atrocities against Palestinians.
