(KPL) The Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Committee on Development and Reform of Yunnan province, China, held a handover ceremony to present a master plan for the development of nine northern provinces of Laos and Yunnan province of China to Laos in Vientiane Capital on 12 January.
Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, Dr. Bounthavy Sysouphanthong, who represented the government, received the master plan from Deputy Head of Committee on Development and Reform, Yunnan province of China, Mr. He Jin Xi.
The drafting of this blueprint, the Chinese representative said, costs nine million remimbi yuans.
The master plan articulated the development on infrastructure, industry and handicraft and stresses on economic cooperation between the northern provinces of Laos and the Chinese province of Yunnan in four areas of economic activities: commerce, investment, agriculture and forestry.
The objective of this master plan is to bring about a vigourous development of nine northern provinces (Bokeo, Huaphanh, Luang Namtha, Luang Prabang, Oudomsay, Phongsaly, Sayaboury, Xiengkhuang and Vientiane province) for the years, 2010-2020.
