INAUGURATION CEREMONY TO MARK OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF GREEK OSCE PRESIDENCY TO BE HELD IN VIENNA
Baku, January 13 (AzerTAc) An inauguration ceremony to mark the official launch of the Greek OSCE presidency will be held in Vienna, Austria on January 15.
During the event, new OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Greek Foreign Minister Dora
Bakoyannis, will outline her country`s priorities for the Organization in 2009.
Expected highlights include the OSCE`s work in Georgia as well as co-operative
security in the OSCE region.
Dora Bakoyannis told journalists that the OSCE hopes for continued progress in
settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
According to her, Greece considers regular meetings between Azerbaijani and Armenian
officials as positive steps in establishing mutual trust.
“We resolutely support territorial integrity of countries and their sovereignty
within internationally recognized state borders,” underlined Bakoyannis.
Meanwhile, the inauguration ceremony will also be attended by acting head of the
OSCE Office in Baku Alexis Shahtakhtinski, Azerbaijani ambassador to Austria who is
simultaneously accredited to the OSCE Fuad Ismayilov,
Greece took over the one-year Chairmanship of the OSCE on 1 January, succeeding
Finland.
