ESTONIAN PRESIDENT VISITS SANGACHAL OIL TERMINAL
Baku, January 14 (AzerTAc). Visiting Azerbaijan, Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves and his accompanying delegation have made a tour of the Sangachal Oil Terminal.
Accompanied by the first Vice-President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan
(SOCAR) Khoshbakht Yusifzade and leadership of the terminal, members of the Estonian
delegation first became acquainted with the Caspian Energy Center.
Toomas Hendrik Ilves viewed rich exhibits reflecting creation of energy resources,
their exploration, production, transportation and refining, as well as got full
information about Azerbaijan`s oil and gas industry and watched slide show on global
energy projects.
The visitors have learned that the terminal, construction of which began in 2001,
has three crude tanks with a storage capacity of nearly 880,000 barrels each, the
oil and gas processing trains, main power generators and pumps and a central control
room. The terminal is connected with oil and gas fields 187 km offshore by
underwater pipelines.
The Estonian President has also familiarized himself with ongoing technological
processes at the terminal, and working system of control management station, which
allows observing all processes of Azerbaijan part of the Baku-Novorossiysk,
Baku-Supsa and Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipelines and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas
pipeline.
The Head of Estonian Republic was presented a keepsake.
