President of Kazakhstan will visit India
Astana, 15 January 2009, Khabar - From 23 to 29 January the president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev will visit India. As the main honoured guest, the head of state will take part in celebrating Republic Day of India. This information was provided at the briefing of the ministry of foreign affairs.

- Over the period of his staying, the president of Kazakhstan will conduct talks with the leadership of the country, during which a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation will be touched upon including the energy sector, peaceful space development, information technologies, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, science and education. A business forum with the participation of business circles of the two countries will also be held.
Kazakhstan provides humanitarian aid to Tajikistan worth 12 million USD. It was also mentioned at the briefing that Kazakhstan will provide humanitarian aid to the neighbouring republic worth 12 million US dollars in view of the situation which has occurred in Tajikistan. According to the arrangements reached between the heads of the countries, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Emomali Rakhmon, twelve and a half thousand tons of bread grain, nine and a half thousand tons of diesel fuel and twenty thousand tons of fuel oil will be delivered to Tajikistan. The ITAR-TASS agency informs us that the world financial collapse has negatively influenced the social and economic situation in Tajikistan. Because of the landslide of world prices for aluminium, raw stock the Tajik aluminium company has caused a decrease in production of this main export by 10%. In the industrial northern areas of the republic, a number of light industry enterprises have stopped their operations for the time being.
