KLM Adds 3 More KL-Amsterdam Weekly Flights

SEPANG (Selangor, Malaysia), June 24 (Bernama) -- KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has increased its Kuala Lumpur-Amsterdam frequency from seven to 10 flights weekly from Friday, said Air France-KLM General Manager for Central Southeast Asia, Gijs van Popta. He said the extra flights would be operated by KLM's newly refurbished Boeing 777-200, which leaves Kuala Lumpur at 8.45 am and arrives at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol at 3.30 pm the same day. "KLM is offering travellers a wider choice of services and connection opportunities to Europe and beyond via Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. "Malaysia is one of our key markets in Southeast Asia. The additional KLM flights indicate that mutual trade between two countries is blooming and provide an opportunity to further intensify the business relationship," he told reporters after launching the extra flights at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) here Friday. Meanwhile, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd Managing Director Badlisham Ghazali said the additional flights would further boost travel and tourism between Malaysia and the Netherlands. He said the move by KLM clearly shows the airline's confidence in the long-term growth of the route, KLIA's service level and the facilities the airport offers. "As one of the oldest airlines flying into Kuala Lumpur since KLM's days at Subang Airport, I'm sure the decision for the increase in flight frequency is a validation of Kuala Lumpur's position as a strong regional hub. "It is also in line with our intention to establish KLIA as the preferred hub," Badlisham said. KLM operates from Kuala Lumpur on Monday, Friday and Saturday and from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol on Thursday, Friday and Sunday. -- BERNAMA
